Hello friends!
On Monday, June 10th, 2024, the Broadway community will come together to celebrate the dance legacy of Three-time TONY Award Winner HINTON BATTLE with The Hinton Battle Day of Dance.
Broadway colleagues Anthony Wayne, founder of Black Broadway Men,T. Oliver Reid, founder of Black Theatre Coalition and Stephanie Pope Lofgren (La Pope, Inc) are thrilled to be co-producing this day-long, exclusive event hosted by New York City’s OPEN JAR STUDIOS.
The day will include five dance classes taught by world-class instructors Tracy Inman (The Ailey School), Edgar Godineaux (Tony Award for Ain't Too Proud), John Manzari (Funny Girl), Lloyd Culbreath (The Verdon Fosse Legacy®) and Robert Garland (The Dance Theatre of Harlem).
All classes and our panel discussion are free and open to the public, however currently registration is closed with every class sold out!.
With the support of The Verdon/Fosse Legacy®, Broadway Dance Center, NYC Dance Alliance, Steps NYC and 2x Tony Nominee Vivian Reed, a handful of promising attendees will be selected to receive scholarships to further their dance and musical theater studies.
The day will culminate with an esteemed panel of guests who will answer questions and offer insights, anecdotes and personal stories about Hinton Battle and his illustrious career.
Panelists will include:
George Faison (The Wiz), Alton Fitzgerald White (Miss Saigon), Nicole Fosse (Dancin’), Maria Torres (Idlewild), Lacy Phillips (Sophisticated Ladies), William Franzbrau (Producer), Daryl Richardson (Sophisticated Ladies)…and more.
Our mission is to Celebrate, Educate, and Honor the legacy of Hinton Battle.
To help make this very special inaugural event possible, we are reaching out to you for your support. Our goal is to raise $5,000.00.
Your donation will not only help make our very first HINTON BATTLE – DAY OF DANCE possible, but it will also help ensure that we can celebrate, educate and honor with a DAY OF DANCE every year. Doing our part to help develop multi-talented HINTON BATTLE’s of the future.
